Acne and Skincare in the 40s

Middle age or 40s is the time of glorious beauty.  Don't you think that it is good when someone says "you are beautiful even at this age"? Our confidence will boost by such words, right? But it is the time where the activity of the skin slows down and several skin problems follows with that. The natural oiliness of the skin will lost. The eyelids darken further afterwards. These problems can be overcome if you protect your skin properly.

Acne and Skincare in the 40s

Skincare

The first step of the skincare is of course face wash or cleansing. You can opt a mild face wash for cleansing. The skin at this age lose the capacity to keep hydration for long period and the natural oiliness is less compare to the younger age. So a mild face wash is always better for your skin. You can apply vitamin C or E based serums or any products for your skin. You should wear moisturizer because as I already said the skin will lose the capacity to keep hydration. Sunscreens having vitamin c, peptides, coenzyme oil etc. can be used. You can use night creams based on retinol, hyaluronic acid, peptides etc. If you have pigmentation, then you can go for arbutin or kojic acid before night cream.

Acnes

Adult acnes are may be due to hormonal changes, lifestyle, stress, environmental toxins etc. It appears mostly on the jawline. Hormonal acnes occur due to the increase in androgen. Out of them testosterone is the most implicated one. The sebaceous gland which are the oil creating gland have certain receptors to which these hormones bind. After this process it stimulates sebum production increasingly thereby leading to the acne formation. But we also understand that hormonal acne does not really mean that there is increase of hormone in the body. The hormonal levels in the body might be normal but the sensitivity of the oil forming glands are higher.

Forming of hormonal acnes can be understood through the symptoms such as weight gain, thinning of hair, increase in the facial hair on the chin area and upper lip. But in certain people these symptoms are even not appear in the skin but still acnes can be formed.  If you treat with many options and still there is no change in the acne, then you can analyze that it might be due to the underneath hormonal imbalance. Better consult a doctor and do further treatments.
